Ramos tipped for Real Madrid hot-seat

The dramatic turnaround in fortunes Tottenham Hotspur has experienced since Harry Redknapp took over at the helm of the club has done little to testify to the skills of former coach, Juande Ramos.

Which makes recent reports that he is being sized up for the senior coaching position at the world's richest football club somewhat hard to believe.

In recent days Ramos has been linked with a move to Real Madrid to replace battling incumbent Bernd Schuster. Schuster's position at the club has been looking increasingly precarious since Madrid were toppled out of the domestic knockout cup by lowly Real Union.

Just why Madrid thinks Ramos has what it takes to reverse the club's fortune's is anyone's guess, with his departure from Spurs essentially the only difference between a team that endured two months as the whipping boys of the Premiership and today's giant-killers.

Spanish football rag El Mundo Deportivo reports that Ramos' excellent record with Spanish clubs makes him an attractive option for the Real Madrid coaching position. Ramos took Sevilla to back-to-back UEFA Cup titles before leaving for the Premiership.

Amongst those said to be backing Ramos for the senior position at the Bernabeu is Madrid captain Raul, who is represented by the same as Ramos.
