GROUP F
Dynamo Kiev
Ukrainian champions Dynamo Kiev are one of three clubs in Group F never to have won a Champions League title, with Kiev coming closest to a title with a semi-final appearance in 1999. The Ukrainians are in for a tough battle to progress to the knockout stages, and the encounters with AS Roma and Sporting CP will be key in determining whether the club progresses to the next round.
Captain Serhiy Rebrov leads Dynamo Kiev from the front, providing experience and power on attack. Rebrov's strike partner is Brazilian Kléber de Sousa, who heads up a large contingent of Brazilian players at the Ukrainian club.
Manchester United
Manchester United will be feeling confident in their ability to claim a second Champions League title in 2008. As Premier League champions and the only club in the pool to have won the trophy, Manchester United should have little trouble putting away the relatively weak teams in Group F.
As always, Manchester United is not short on talent and fields a world class squad with an excellent balance between youthful flair and experience. Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney stand out as world class strikers, and are given a solid platform for attack by legendary defenders like captain Phil Neville.
AS Roma
The closest Roma have come to winning the Champion's League was an appearance in the 1984 European Cup final. The club has been a powerful force in domestic Italian football over the past five years and on paper look to be the second strongest team in Group F.
Captain, and Italian international, Francesco Totti is something of a talisman for Roma, having scored over 150 goals in 15 years with the club. He leads an enthusiastic but relatively inexperienced squad of young Italian players.
Sporting Clube de Portugal
Sporting CP look to have an uphill battle if they wish to move into the next round of the Champions League. Although the club has been a force to reckoned with in Portuguese football over the last decade, they have never progressed beyond the group stages of the Champions League.
The Sporting CP squad is a blend of domestic and Brazilian players. The clubs performances are built on professionalism and the young talent blooded in the club's world class youth academy rather than expensive signings.
